Key light terms

While key terms may not be the most exciting prospect, they are the foundation of communicating effectively to other physicists and scientists.

1	Light cannot pass through opaque objects
2	Transparent materials allow light to pass through them in a way that lets you see objects clearly through them
3	Translucent materials allow some light to pass through, but not in a way that allows you to see detailed shapes
4	Luminous objects are a source of, and give off their own, light
5	In the context of light rays, incident means light heading towards something e.g. a mirror
6	In the context of light rays, reflected means light has bounced off a reflector and is now heading away from the reflector
7	An inverted image is upside down compared to the original image
8	Magnified is when an image is larger than the original and diminished is when an image is smaller than the original
9	Sharp is when you can clearly see all the features and objects have defined edges. Blurry is when you cannot see features or edges.
