Fluids which are highly viscous make it more difficult for objects to move through them as they apply more friction

You can see in the diagram that the object with a higher viscosity exerts a higher resistive force on objects moving through it.

This occurs as the liquid with higher viscosity has more internal resistance so is difficult to move through.
