Real light rays must have arrows on them
Light rays have a direction, travelling from a light source towards something. For this reason, you must have an arrow on them to indicate the direction:

Here are some examples of poor light rays as they do not have arrow on them:

Here is an example of a good light ray used in a diagram, as it has a clearly labelled arrow on it:
