Parallax error causes inaccurate measurements and happens when you view a scale at an angle

Parallax error happens when you view a scale at an angle. Rulers, measuring cylinders and protractors are all measuring tools which are susceptible to parallax error. The photo below shows what we mean by a scale being viewed at an angle.
