To perform calculations using density, mass and volume you can use the equation density=mass/volume

The equation to do calculations using density, mass and volume is:

density = mass / volume

Mathematically, there are a few different ways you can note this equation down:

  • density = mass / volume
  • density = mass ÷ volume
  • As well as the following hand drawn versions (note that these are all different ways of writing the same equation):
Previous
Volume is often represented by a 'V' in equations and the SI unit is m3
Next
The symbol equation for the density=mass/volume equation is ρ=m/V
