All Textbook Topics - Electricity - Current in series and parallel circuits - Current is the same everywhere in a series circuit

Current is the same everywhere in a series circuit

In a series circuit, the current is the same everywhere.

It does not matter where you check the current, it is the same in all places.

We are assuming the bulbs and batteries used in the circuits below are all identical.

Different circuits will have different values of current, but within each circuit, the current will be the same everywhere.

Previous
The current coming out of the battery/cell/power supply is equal to the current going back into the battery
Next
In a series circuit with only bulbs connected, when you double the number of bulbs in the circuit but keep the number of cells the same, the current will halve
