A larger charge on an object will increase the force for a given distance

In the diagram below, there are two sets of charges at the same distance from each other, but one pair has twice the charge of the other pair.

The pair with the greater charge experiences a greater force due to the larger charges on the objects.

And here is the same effect on positive charges:

The effect is also observed on opposite charges when the forces are attractive:
