The direction of a force arrow shows the direction the force is acting

An arrow which is representing a force must point in the direction that the force is meant to be acting.

Above are some examples of this:

  • the force acting to the left is represented by an arrow pointing to the left
  • the force acting to the right is represented by an arrow pointing to the right
  • the force acting up is represented by an arrow pointing up
  • the force acting down is represented by an arrow pointing down
